Life as a missionary in the Congo

Back in 1968 a young nurse from Northern Ireland, Maud Kells, went to work as a missionary nurse in the country we now know as the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In early 2015 Maud was still there, working in Molito in the east of the country, helping train midwives and nurses. Then, on the night of 4th January, she found herself close to death. Maud told Colm Flanagan, Premier’s Northern Ireland producer, what happened on that January night.

And listen to Maud explain why she'd like to go back to the Congo, and the unfinished business she feels she has there.
