Seeds of Hope

The long winter along with unemployment caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in many children and families living in poverty are struggling with basic nutrition in Albania. Mission Without borders are responding to this by providing families with boxes of seedlings, agricultural tools and training to plant, nurture and harvest crops.
Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe. One in three young people are unemployed, and for those who do have jobs, income levels have fallen to just 26% of the EU average. As a result, meeting basic needs is a daily challenge for many people and an incredible 56% of all Albanians want to emigrate, a Gallup poll found in 2017. Monika Qerimi is the Country Field Manager, in Albania and spoke with Premier's Rachel Matthews about the seeds of hope they are planting in the soil and in families hearts this Easter time.
