Koran burning pastor returns
Pastor Terry Jones of the group Stand Up America Now is set to burn more copies of the Islamic holy book.
The Florida church leader has announced he will set fire to 2,998 copies - one for every person who died in the September 11 attacks in 2001.
He said: "To remember those who were murdered by radical Islam, and to send Islam a very clear warning, that they will not get their foothold in the American Constitution as they have done in Europe, we will be holding an international burning of 2,998 Korans, representing one for each individual who was murdered in the September 11th, 2001 attacks.
"The radical hand of Islam shows itself with violence against anyone who dares to stand up and speak the truth.
"Radical Islam will not be stopped by the appeasing attitude of the present Obama Administration, but only by a show of force and determination."
Pastor Jones first hit the headlines in 2010 when he first held 'Burn a Koran Day' at the Dove World Outreach Day in Florida.
He received criticism from across the world and as a result, violence flared up in areas known for Christian persecution.
Matt Jones from the anti-persecution charity Christian Solidarity Worldwide is condemning the latest event.
He said: "What we see on the ground in some of the countries we work on is an increased threat and increased potential of violence against Christian communities.
"There are other ways of raising concerns and issues relating to political situations [and] religion that doesn't involve inciting essentially violence against Christian communities around the world."
The event is set to take place in Florida at 6pm local time.
