I knew Ann Easter’s voice from her Pause for Thought slots with Chris Evans on Radio 2.
I knew she was someone who called a spade a spade, and was full of stories and enthusiasm about her family and the people she meets as chief executive of Renewal Programme, a community development organisation in Newham, in East London.
What I didn’t know was how she felt called to ministry at the age of 6, was first invited to church by a rather attractive Franciscan Friar on a bus, how she was a fish out of water during the unmitigated disaster of her nursing training, how she heard about women’s ministry in the Church of England while queuing for the loo, and thought the letter inviting her to be Chaplain to the Queen was a joke from a friend.
She’s a straight talking, proud Cockney, and, you’ll have spotted, great fun!
Hope you can join me, with the Rev Canon Ann Easter, for Travellers' Tales, Sunday 20th July at 7pm, here on Premier Christian Radio.
