Lydia was a respected businesswoman in the Greek city of Philippi, in Greece. She and some others worshipped the One True God of the Jews, but their world was turned upside down when Paul and his friends appeared one day at their meeting by the river.
Through imprisonment and civil commotion Lydia’s faith never wavered and her little gathering became a thriving Christian church. She is thought of as the first convert to Christianity. She’s referenced in the book of Acts.
