Carolyn Lawrence is the Vice President of the Methodist Church in Britain for 2020-2021. She has a background in Primary education and as an educational Mission Partner with the MCCA in Guyana, South America.
Since returning to the UK she has worked in a voluntary capacity within the Methodist Church as a preacher and leader and has also worked with the Global Relationships team helping to engage people with the worldwide network of partner churches. She is part of the ‘World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women’ as the Area Officer for Britain. Carolyn is passionate about the ‘Great Commission' and has a heart for sharing the love of Jesus through preaching, teaching, pastoral care and social action.
She is also passionate about churches having a global view of mission. In her ministry she seeks to encourage people to grow in their faith, wherever they are on the Christian journey - to get to know Jesus and to find healing and wholeness in all areas of their lives. She believes that social action and evangelism should go hand in hand and that transformed hearts and lives, in turn, transform communities. Carolyn lives in South Devon with her husband who is a Methodist minister and has two grown up, married daughters and three grandchildren.
She spoke to Premier’s Charmaine Noble-McLean about how she discovered Jesus, the importance of faith in action as well as sharing the Gospel and why helping the poor is critical.
