Pete Phillips explains why being a Christian does not mean magical...
What image comes to mind when I say the word ‘missionary’? Perhaps you imagine someone preaching in the jungle with a translator, or a person leading a meeting in a foreign country and praying for the sick to be healed. My guest on the Woman to Woman show today has given up travelling to different countries, instead choosing to be a missionary from the comfort of her own home over the telephone!
The first time she preached and prayed for the sick over the phone she was shocked when she learned that people were instantly healed. Perhaps even more surprising was the time she had two phone meetings happening at once (one phone on each ear!) and God healed groups of people in two countries as she prayed for both at the same time!
Suzanne Pillans has been a missionary for many years, but gave up travelling to cut costs. She now works with church leaders who gather people together in a country, she preaches over the phone, has the message translated and then prays for the sick to be healed from afar. There are incredible results!
This morning she explained that even Ebola has been healed through the telephone ministry saying, ‘Last year we had wonderful results in Sierra Leone’. She says that God told her to pray for an end to Ebola in a region she was preaching to in Sierra Leone. Recalling that revivalist John G Lake had taken authority over a disease and it stopped altogether, she boldly tried the same. Suzanne shared that the moment she prayed Ebola symptoms in the area stopped. Her and the leaders in the area waited 3 weeks just to be sure but there was still no sign of the disease after a month. Suzanne then prayed for another 11 towns and the same thing happened each time. She received a letter from Rev Jonathan in Liberia after she prayed for an area there just a few months ago. He said “when 5 nurses died of the disease in 1 week everyone lost hope”. On June 28th this year a new wave of Ebola was reported with 6 confirmed cases. Suzanne prayed and Rev Jonathan reported that as a result of the prayer “all 6 people were healed and there have been no new cases of the deadly Ebola virus disease since”. Whether you believe in the power of prayer or not, Suzanne’s stories will certainly cause your brain to do somersaults.
