The government is considering a change in child neglect laws which will make emotional cruelty a crime for the first time.

It's hoped the law will protect children's emotional well-being.

Parents found guilty of it could face up to 10 years in prison.

Kate Mulley from the Christian charity Action for Children told Premier's Victoria Laurence on the News Hour why they're pleased.
