The government has reportedly banned the teaching of creationism at independent Academies and Free Schools that open from today.

The government has reportedly banned the teaching of creationism at independent Academies and Free Schools that open from today.

Proposals to teach the subject as part of science in free schools was already outlawed by the Department for Education in 2011.

Richy Thompson from Humanist Association has campaigned for the change and spoke to Premier's Des Busteed on the News Hour.

A government spokesperson has told Premier the change is "still in the process of being cleared".
