For many in the town the Tall Ships Regatta is a fitting tribute to Blyth’s rich sailing history.

Roy Hugman from St Cuthbert’s Church, Blyth told Premier “We are very pleased that the town is getting this brilliant opportunity to have the Tall Ships visit us.”

Artists Michele Rickitt, Denise Primrose, Ann-Marie Dalton and Jane Sutcliffe having been working over several months with the Blyth community, both young and old, to create artworks for display in the church.

Their handiwork includes a flotilla of over two-hundred paper boats and fishes bobbing in the air, a large colourful seaside scene, made by the Church’s toddler group and paintings by members of the Blyth, Worker’s Education Art Group, on the theme of the Tall Ships.

And no event would be completed without food so they are hosting a pop up café.
