In the months following husband Gordon and the family decided to set up The Sally Allan Fund and established a partnership with Tyneside & Northumberland Mind.
The aim of the family was to work together to raise awareness and understanding of mental health with a view to improving North East mental health.
They have now developed a free 30-minute presentation to be delivered to companies, organisations, charities and group of friends, as well as producing a booklet full of tips and guidance on self-care and information on local and national services for support.
Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton met up with husband Gordon before one of the presentations and he shared openly about the journey they had all been on over the past 12 months.
