Background
share close

Often at the front line, but always unarmed, these men steadfastly supported soldiers and sailors of all denominations and faiths.

In total over 5,000 Army Chaplains served on the front line, brining comfort and compassion to those putting their lives on the line in defence of our nation.

Five were awarded the Victoria Cross

Over 200 were awarded the military cross

Many were mentioned in dispatches.

The exhibition, in the centenary year of the Somme and coinciding with Remembrance Day, seeks to tell their stories.

Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton visited Bradford Cathedral to meet The Revd. Cat Thatcher, Assistant Curate at Bradford Cathedral, who helped put on the exhibition.
