Special blessing for runners

Over 57,000 runners participated this year from a total of 177 countries out of the 193 UN registered nations.

Before this year’s race St Lukes welcomed hundreds of runners to use their facilities, and dozens used their hall to change into their kit and prepare for the race.

This year they also thought they would offer an additional blessing to the tens of thousands who walk past the church on their way to the starting line. They prepared a massive banner which was mounted on our roof. It was 38ft long and 5ft high and read “Run Life’s Race With JESUS!” It was read by many thousands on foot and was captured by the BBC helicopter hovering overhead.

The vicar of St Lukes Church, Rev Dr Robert Ward, told Premier “We were thrilled to have been led by the spirit to “lift high the name of Jesus” and to proclaim His name from the rooftops!”
