From this desire to make a difference was birthed The Extraordinary Project.

It’s based in Byker, an area of Tyneside made famous by the TV series Byker Grove.

The team’s aim is to reduce poverty, improve health and ultimately unleash the extraordinary potential of the people who engage with the project.

A significant part of The Extraordinary Project is The Byker Pantry where individuals can pay a small weekly membership fee and then access discounted food which can save people up to £500 a year.

They are also running regular cooking courses, budgeting courses and in time plan to add further activities.

Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton has been to meet David Bass, Lead Pastor of the Tyneside Vineyard church to find out more.
