Since the launch of Newcastle Street Pastors in December 2008 they have worked together with other partners in the night-time economy to make Newcastle safer.

The sculpture, made from over 100,000 seized blades, has come to Gateshead following a campaign by Alison Madgin from Wallsend whose 18-year-old daughter Samantha was stabbed to death in 2007.
Not only does the Angel act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a memorial to celebrate those lives lost through violent and thoughtless actions.
Kim McGuinness, Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, spoke at the unveiling along with the artist Alfie Bradley who worked with The British Ironwork Centre, in Shropshire to create the angel.
Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton went along for Premier Christian Radio.
