The Grange Centre

Background

The Grange Centre is a charity in Bookham which started it’s life in 1927 when Miss Julia Sweet, a pioneer in the teaching and training of disabled people, founded the School of Stitchery and Lace in Leicestershire.

Miss Sweet wanted to give nurses injured in the First World War a means of earning their living and this heart to help people live independently has now continued, as the centre also now offers home and support to people with learning disabilities.

Rachel began by asking Eloise how they have coped, as a community during lockdown…
