In all our insecurities of body, mind or spirit Scripture encourages us to put faith in God’s protection which the walls of Jerusalem symbolise. To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length (Zechariah 2:2) is ultimately to comprehend with St Paul in Ephesians 3:18-19 what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, to be filled with all the fullness of God.
