Loretta chats to Carly Jones from Mission Without Borders, a charity that helps people in Eastern Europe out of poverty, about the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster on the eve of its 30th anniversary.
Together they explore the fascination with the accident site, the exclusion zone that it surrounds it and the tourism trade, as well as what has happened to the people that once lived there and the suffering they’ve endured.
The diary from Halyna that illustrates how the tragedy has impacted her life can be read here. She was a child when the disaster happened and has gone through 6 rounds of cancer treatment.
