Priestland s Progress
God the Father, Creator, fine. God the Son, Jesus – we know Him, almost got Him taped. But what about the Holy Spirit? Gerald hears about communications theory, about God at work in people’s lives, about the driving force in the Church.
Questions:
- Apart from picking up the loose ends left by the Father and the Son, what do you think the Holy Spirit really does now?
- Most of the images used for the Holy Spirit are disturbing and strong – breath, wind and fire. Can you see signs of the Spirit in your life; in the Church?
- What do you think really happened at Pentecost?
- Whatever your answer to 3, people from a great diversity of backgrounds and cultures heard the Gospel and understood. What do you think would happen if the Holy Spirit were allowed free rein in your life, in your friends’ lives, in the Church, your Church?
- Jesus said the Holy Spirit would “lead you into all truth”. Have you been led into any truth lately? If not …..
“He is, if you like, a kind of current communication that exists between me and something else outside me, beyond me. Another person, maybe or an intellectual thing like a problem or scientific thing that I haven’t seen, and suddenly the penny drops and, every time a human being says, “Oh, I see now.” I would claim that’s what I mean by the Holy Spirit.”
John V Taylor
