‘Romeo Romeo where for thou art Romeo.’ Romeo & Juliet is an interesting play, but the language can be heavy for some people. So a theatre based in a church in posh Kensington has given it a 21st century makeover. It’s no longer based in Verona in Italy, but in Verona Road in London – and it’s not rival families, but rival gangs. Most of the cast have had troubled pasts, live in London’s poorest areas – but through intermission they’re finding a relationship with God. Tony Miles was joined in the studio by DARREN RAYMOND from Intermission Youth Theatre who’s written the play, togehter with actors TOSIN COLE who plays Romeo and DANDAVE ROACH who plays Benvolio.
