Now here is quite a bold statement by The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy. They says that, ‘No one in the English speaking world can be considered literate without a basic knowledge of the Bible’. That’s quite a claim! But this is probably because the Bible is so entrenched in our society and language, that even non-Christians don’t realise how influenced they are by it. So what exactly is this big, somewhat daunting book, and how can we learn to understand not just what it’s teaching, but why it was put together in the manner and order that it was.
