Lockdown has brought issues to the UK but what about AIC Kijabe Hospital in Kenya? Andrew Philips caught up with DR Pete & Libby Halestrap

AIC Kijabe as is known today was established in 1915 as a small outpatient clinic within the grounds of the Rift Valley Academy and was originally named Theodora Hospital. The hospital celebrated its centenary in May 2015 and is a multi-specialty facility currently with a bed capacity of 363, serving patients from all over Kenya and other African countries.
KH is a faith-based hospital sponsored by the Africa Inland Church, Kenya, and has recently been classified as a level 6BNational Tertiary Teaching and Referral Hospital. The hospital’s mission is to “Glorify God through compassionate health care provision, excellent training and spiritual ministry in Christ Jesus.”
The hospital continues to experience tremendous growth and change over the years. It employs over 900 staff and strives to balance Kenyan and missionary consultants. Missionary doctors play a role in making patients’ fees affordable.”
