Premier Christian Radio Your voice of hope!
This weekend, Billy Elliot the Musical will be taking its final bow in the West End, before going on a nationwide tour.
The iconic story, in which a coal miner’s son from a poor family becomes a world-renowned ballet dancer, is set in the former coal-mining town of Easington, County Durham.
As part of a special thank you to the people of Easington, the musical is donating all the proceeds from its final performance on Saturday to the East Durham Trust – a charity based in the town.
Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton has been to Easington to find out about the real Billy Elliot and how his story, of pursuing his dream, has inspired a generation of youngsters to pursue theirs.
