Mercy Ships announce KEY WORKER SUNDAY – May 24th 2020

Each Thursday, we have been on our doorsteps cheering on NHS workers, clanging saucepans and clapping for Key Workers…

As the saying goes, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’, now we’re all acutely aware it takes a village to run a hospital too. Mercy Ships understand the vital importance of ‘Key Workers’ – because only HALF of the volunteers onboard their floating hospital are in medical roles!

That’s why Mercy Ships have chosen Sunday 24th May 2020 to be KEY WORKER SUNDAY for churches…

2 Corinthians 13:11 says, “Encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.”

So, let’s find ways to encourage and celebrate the Key Workers in our own church, by asking them to post a photo of themselves wearing their work clothing, so others can comment with words of appreciation and prayers of protection and peace. Let’s celebrate their skills and thank them for their dedication.

Mark KEY WORKER SUNDAY with your church.  Lots of ideas, suggested prayers, Bible verses and sermon notes for Key Worker Sunday can be found in the Skills Sunday pack from Mercy Shipshttps://www.mercyships.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Mercy-Sunday-Skills-Sunday-Service.pdf
