A leaked document has revealed the Church of England may cut the number of paid clergy by up to 20 per cent.
The Sunday Times has reported the Church of England is reviewing the viability of at least 12,000 parishes which n can’t cover their costs, replacing the paid priest with unpaid vicars.
Could this be the end of the parish system – with a parish church in every town?
