Inspirational Breakfast with Esther Higham

Nearly 5 million refugees have fled Syria since the conflict began, yet many wealthy countries are refusing to do their bit and take them in.

Commentators say the lack of “political will” is complex – but stems from “weak state security” coupled with the rise in “terrorism – causing many nations to shun refugees, for fear of stoking up anger among the electorate”.

Today, a UN conference is convening to discuss the resettlement of Syrian refugees – and the UN Security Council is also meeting to discuss the ongoing threat posed across the Middle East by the so-called “Islamic State”.

International Lawyer and Church Consultant on Middle East issues,  Dr Harry Hagopian, speaks to us ahead of the conference.
