Tonight the Commonwealth Games opens in Birmingham as nearly 5000 athletes and para-athletes from 72 nations gather to compete for the next two weeks. Sports from Table Tennis to wheelchair basketball, lawn bowls to triathlon and good old athletics are on the schedule with the finest sportspeople from around the world. What’s it like to actually compete at a huge global sports event, and if you’re a Christian how big a part does your faith play? Simon Poole a chaplain with Christians in Sport, and Johnny Reid who is the Comms Director for the charity joined Premier’s Esther Higham to tell us more.
