Inspirational Breakfast with Esther Higham

So is it time to stop sending white celebrities to Africa to make emotional films about poverty, to raise funds for charities?

Comic Relief announced on October 28th 2020 that they’re going to end this traditional route of raising awareness,  and concentrate instead on films made by grass routes film makers who have a local perspective.

Furthermore, they’re also going to stop using imagery of dying people and starving children. This is in response to criticism that the charity was promoting the idea of “white saviours”

The Head of Community Fundraising for Christian Aid, Chine McDonald speaks in more detail with Premier’s Esther Higham on this topic.
