Rev Sonia Hicks is the first black woman to take up the role of President of the Methodist Conference. She’s been telling Esther Higham how, despite her great aunt being turned away by a Methodist minister because of the colour of her skin in the 1960s, the family were called back into the denomination which she now leads. Plus, she reveals the scripture which encourages anyone who feels rejected to take up their place at “God’s table”
