Are inmates victims as much as they are offenders when it comes to mental health?

This morning we’re asking the questions – what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people who are marginalised by society?

It’s also Prisons Week here in the UK and, while most of us have never seen the inside of a prison, men and women across the country are confined within prisons walls which can be a lonely, isolating place – cut off from friends and family. How does this affect their mental health? Are they receiving the appropriate support that they need?

Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton has been speaking to Dr Sarah Pearce, a member of the worshipping community at Durham Cathedral, and a regular visitor at Durham Prison.
