Premier Christian Radio Your voice of hope!
Rufus Norris’s new production of James Baldwin’s play ‘The Amen Corner’ is now on at the National Theatre. Set in Harlem in 1953, the production has music from the London Community Gospel Choir & is full of humour. But it is also deeply moving, showing how faith can cause pain as well as joy, and the way those who praise God most passionately can be every bit as cruel and devious as those they denounce as sinners. Starring Academy Award-nominated actress, Marianne Jean-Baptiste as the uncompromising Pastor, Sister Margaret. The play explores themes of hypocrisy & pride. Nage caught up with actress, Sharon D Clarke, who plays her fiercely loyal sister & Lucian Msamati who plays her battere, but not quite broken husband she abandoned in the pursuit of God.
