Inspirational Breakfast with Esther Higham

WWII ended 70 years ago this year, those involved reflect on the joy tinged with sadness, when the Second World War finally ended.

70 years ago, after weeks of rumour and speculation, the Second World War finally came to an end.

And now 70 years on church services of thanksgiving, reflection and remembrance are being held to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day and the end of hostilities.

Ian Britton, Premier’s Regional Producer for the North, has travelled to Carlisle to meet Canon Jan Kearton from Carlisle Cathedral – Tony Parrini from the Royal British Legion and Normandy veteran Major Joseph Mark to hear their own individual stories.
