Should married couples have separate bank accounts?

A recent survey of nearly 4,000 British women has  found that 31% of those aged 16 – 34 opted against sharing financial assets with their partner – and 45% declared that this was in order to maintain financial independence.

Are these statistics simply a reflection of changing times, and the rise in equality and female empowerment – or do they point to a lack of trust, unity and commitment in modern relationships?

GRAHAM NICHOLLS is Director of Affinity, a network of 1,200 evangelical churches and ministries across the UK and a Pastor in Sussex . MICHAELA HYDE is the Executive Director of Marriage Foundation, they both shared their views on this topic.
